Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op (BSBC) Sign Up to Fundraise here

The Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op (BSBC) is a community bike shop building a more equitable city by getting people on bikes. Bikes are sustainable, affordable, and build systems of change while improving health and well-being and connecting people with nature and their community. We run a bike recycling program, a tool-sharing library, and a community hub, diverting bicycles from the waste stream, training volunteers and shop users to repair them, and partnering with other organizations to donate these bikes back into the community. Interested in solving climate change? You are welcome in Citizens’ Climate. We’re regular people from Connecticut who are working together to get climate laws passed. We believe that the only way to tackle climate change is together. We connect over shared concerns, build consensus, and work with elected officials from every party towards climate solutions. CitySeed seeks to provide access to fresh, local food for all New Haven residents.  Its mission is to engage the community in growing an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development and sustainable agriculture. Toward that end, CitySeed operates a series of year-round Farmers' Markets, a Mobile Market, Kitchen at CitySeed - a licensed commercial kitchen space that aims to build culture and community through education and entrepreneurship, and Sanctuary Kitchen - a culinary program that promotes the cuisines and stories of resettled refugees and immigrants to improve cultural understanding and build community. Visit its website.

Common Ground is a environmental charter high school, urban farm, and environmental education center at the base of New Haven's West Rock Ridge State Park. Community Placemaking and Engagement Network (CPEN) Sign up to fundraise here.

(formerly the Learning Corridor- Newhallville) 

CPEN is based in a section of park along the Farmington Canal Trail being transformed through partnerships between Doreen Abubakar, Bradley Street Bike Coop, the Friends of Farmington Canal Trail, URI, CT Audubon, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and others.

EcoWorks is a social enterprise that reduces waste while supporting the arts. Our mission is to promote resource conservation, creativity, education and community engagement through material reuse, waste reduction, recycling, composting and zero waste strategies. We seek to foster behavior that respects the environment and strengthens a sense of community through initiatives to repurpose items typically thought of as waste.

ElmCityCycling is a nonprofit organization of more than 800 advocates whose mission is to make the greater New Haven area friendlier and more accessible to cyclists, pedestrians, and other users of non-motorized transportation. The New Haven Land Trust and New Haven Farms merged into Gather New Haven The organization engages people in stewardship and cultivation of the land for a healthier community and environment. They achieve this through land conservation, community gardening and environmental education. In 2017 we joined forces with Schooner to help kids connect to the coastline with summer camps and other coastal educational programs. Visit its website

Hamden Land Conservation Trust  Sign up to fundraise here.

The Hamden Land Conservation Trust is a group of Hamden residents who care about open space and work to protect it in our town. We also work to educate the public about ways to promote environmental practices in their own properties. We protect diverse natural environments including forests, woodlands, wetlands, tidal marsh, and more.  Our goal is to preserve what we can of Hamden’s last remaining open space parcels, to protect our forests, farmland and other natural features for the benefit of today’s families and future generations.

Haven´s Harvest

Sign Up to Fundraise here. Our mission is to build community and reduce food waste, one food rescue at a time. We have created a robust community network to redirect excess food to people, rather than letting it go to waste. In 2020, 2021, and 2022, we recovered over 1.5 million pounds of food each year. Huneebee Project envisions a world in which our youth, the community, and our environment are in mutual and collaborative relationship. Through a social enterprise that promotes transferable job-skill-building for youth, community engagement, and shared appreciation for our natural environment.

The Interreligious Eco-Justice Network is Connecticut only faith-based environmental non-profit organization.  Committed to justice and grounded in hope, IREJN is a unifying voice dedicated to postive, hopeful action on behalf of the earth, the one thing we all share and the one place we all call home. The mission of IREJN is to inspire and equip Connecticut’s religious communities and their spiritual allies to protect our planet through education, engagement, and advocacy.

Massaro Community Farm  Sign Up to Fundraise here.

Organized in 2008, Massaro Community Farm, Inc. is a nonprofit, certified-organic farm providing open space, vegetables and flowers, and hands-on education for all ages. MCF donated over 6,000 pounds of organic produce to our four community partners which help provide hunger relief around the region. Massaro has provided fresh, local organic to over 150 subscribers to the CSA and in 2012 we established a small but very successful summer camp. Visit its web site.

NHS is revitalizing  New Haven's neighborhoods with a holistic approach to development that merges community building with direct service. NHS New Haven buys distressed houses, rehabs them, and sells them to families with low and moderate incomes.

New Haven Bioregional Group/Transition Greater New Haven has been connecting New Haveners to Their Life-Place Since 2005. We provide educational movies re: environmental issues with potlucks to get folks talking and knowing each other. We lead walks in the Bioregion with speakers to learn more about our life place. NHCAT promotes walking, biking, and all active forms of transportation as healthy, safe, and environmentally friendly. NHCAT believes education should be free, widely available, and include all forms of active transportation to meet the needs of school students, residents, employees, public safety officials, and visitors in the City of New Haven. View its website.

New Haven/Leon SCP supports education and sustainable development in Nicaragua and New Haven. We are working with community leaders in Goyena Nicaragua to create a sustainable, self sufficient community. Save the Sound Sign Up to Fundraise here    Save the Sound leads environmental action in your region. We fight climate change, save endangered lands, protect the Sound and its rivers, and work with nature to restore ecosystems.

Urban Resources Initiative

URI empowers and supports communities in the restoration, stewardship and enjoyment of the urban forest and nature in New Haven. URI's Community Greenspace program works with 50 New Haven community groups to replant, restore, and reclaim the urban environment. URI's GreenSkills program trains and mentors high school students and individuals with a history that includes incarceration by planting trees for hundreds of New Haven residents each year. This year URI will plant 1000 trees in New Haven!  Visit its web site.

Youth Continuum

Youth Continuum's mission is to end youth homelessness by providing shelter, food, housing options and services that help young people become independent adults. With our Street Outreach program, Drop-In Center and the only Warming Center in the state serving 18-24 year olds, we connect youth with our own vital resources and those in the community to keep them safe. Partnering with Rock to Rock will help raise awareness for our mission and raise vital funds to secure new energy efficient windows and appliances, and free bus passes.
