Build a Sponsor Team!

THANK YOU for sponsoring Rock to Rock! Now, are you ready to build a team? It's a great way to build camraderie and spirit among your employees and other members of your community. It gets your business's name out into the community. It's a chance to encourage healthy exercise on your team. And it's another opportunity to support great environmental work in the New Haven community!

To get started ...

First Step: Register your team mates. Click the green "register" button at the top of the screen.

Second Step: Set up your individual fundraising pages through givegreater.org. Once you're registered, you can set up a web page for each rider on your team, add a photo or video, explain why you're riding Rock to Rock, why you chose the beneficiary partner for whom you will raise donations, etc.

Third Step: Spread the word. Once your team is up and running, you can send emails, post fliers, talk up Rock to Rock in person.

Fourth Step: Build the momentum! Encourage your team members to fundraise by sharing individual prize information, congratulating them when they get donations and reach their goals. Check out more fundraising tips.

Tips from Past Sponsors

#1: Get the word out early & broadly. Faxon Law Group and Assa Abloy sent out the invitation to all their staff and families, and handled the registration for those who wanted to sign up. The Connecticut Mental Health Center Foundation posted fliers, sent out emails, talked it up at staff meetings, included it in their newsletter, and put it on their web site. Need a customized flier or text? Email Anna at info@rocktorock.org

#2: Provide free or discounted registration. Elm Campus Partners and the CMHC Foundation paid the registration fees for their team members. We can even set up a special registration code -- contact Anna at info@rocktorock.org

#3: Serve together. You don't need to cycle to join a team! Whole Foods staff came out to run a rest stop. Elm Campus Partners comes out in force for our Day of Service. Get details on our Day of Service and other volunteer opportunities.

#4: Match your team's fundraising. The captain of the Nature Conservancy's team stepped up to match whatever their employees raised, up to $10,000!

#5: Organize a team event. Many teams have organized a happy hour, training ride, bike check, or other meetup before Rock to Rock. You can also turn our Launch Party (in March) and Day of Service into events for your team!

#6: Get team swag. Elm Campus Partners comes out every year in matching t-shirts. Chabaso came out in slick jerseys. What's your team wearing? We encourage riders to have fun, especially on the shorter routes -- come in costumes, create floats on bicycle trailers, decorate your bike!
